Modern binders. Natural paints and non toxic paints use modern plant based binders to do the same thing, but without the chemicals and the toxic environmental impact.

Gone of the days of ‘weak’ natural paints,  these listed below are modern formulations with impressive plant based binders, and are as good as any chemical paints, but have a far superior finish and look so much better in the light. You’ll understand when you’ve painted!

My favourites, paints I have used in my own house are the Auro and Graphenstone range. Auro 555 is the hero wall and ceiling emulsion, the alternative being the Graphenstone wall emulsion Grafclean premium. Auro 555 is just a little cheaper. Both great paints.

If you want a natural white paint, the Auro 524 is the white version of the coloured Auro 555 emulsion. For cheap trade contact matt (generally used a primer, or low traffic areas like cellars and basements the breathable Graphenstone Nevada ultra is an economical choice.

For a natural eggshell for wood and trim (but also suitable for walls and ceilings) a good choice would be the Grafclean Eggshell, or the Auro alternative 517. Price point is actually that the Auro eggshell is more expensive than the Grafclean Eggshell by quite a margin (I know no why) so I’ve actually used more of the Grafclean Eggshell in my own home for most of my skirting boards and trim.

Auro offer a super flat matt breathable clay paint, Auro 535 clay paint, which is a much ‘cleaner’ version than the Earthborn Clay paint, and I expect the Auro clay to become quite a popular choice over the next few years as people realise there is a good viable alternative to the Earthborn.

Lime based interior paints. If you are looking for more lime based paint for interior lime, the Graphenstone GCS Interior Paint is an excellent choice.
