Is gloss paint good for interior walls?
Well, it’s not that it can’t be used for interior walls, as technically it can be quite easily, it’s more the fact it’s just fashion dictating the style, which right now is not glossy walls. Also, glossy walls leave nothing to the imagination, it’ll highlight wall imperfections as if it’s life depends on it. You have been warned!

There is no doubt that choosing a gloss paint for your interior walls would give you a very easy to clean and wipeable surface, but most people would choose a modern interior eggshell if they wanted easy cleaning rather than a  matt emulsion paint.

Eggshell is still an option for walls, especially in higher traffic areas such as kitchens and bathrooms. 

What kind of gloss do you use for interior doors? 
Interior doors can look great having been painted with a glossy paint, as it will provide and easy to clean surface that is both hard wearing and stain resistant. Also, gloss paints are good at preventing knocks and scuffs, which is why they are often used for skirting boards as well as doors.

The Auro 516 coloured gloss paint is available in a whole range of gorgeous colours, and the Auro 516-90 is the white option.

Does gloss paint require an undercoat or primer?
Generally the Auro 516 gloss doesn’t require a primer or undercoat for most wood or pre existing paint, however if you have a tricky wood, or a wood rich in active substances we suggest a coat of Auro 510 primer. For rusty metal, use the Auro 519 rust primer. 

What is the best paint for living room walls?
Most people choose either a natural matt emulsion paint such as the Auro 555 natural interior emulsion, but also people do use the Auro Eggshell, or the Graphenstone Eggshell, both excellent.

A more matt finish lends itself to hide more imperfections and marks, so it’s pretty universally used for most interior rooms due to this!

How long does gloss paint take to dry?
The Auro 516 Gloss paint generally is touch dry in around 2hrs (at 23c ambient temperature), workable at around 6hrs and cured after 24hrs. Obviously the ambient temperature affects this, as well does airflow and humidity. 

Can I paint over gloss paint without sanding?
We would always recommend you sand existing gloss paints, as it will help no end with better adhesion. Just a light sand, or ‘key’ is ideal.
