Exterior satin paint is a great choice for external wood care, such as wooden window frames and exterior trim. Satin paint is perhaps a more modern look to the more traditional equivalent exterior gloss wood paint, and unlike painting with gloss it is a little more forgiving to lesser prep.  However, the better you prep the surface, the better final satin surface you will gain, which will be easier to maintain and easier to clean. Wood is a traditional building material for good reason, it always looks great when well looked after, IF looked after well it can last for literally decades!
