Bedroom Paint Colour Schemes - Golden Hour
Golden bedroom colour scheme
Golden Hour, a soft golden bedroom
Not every warm bedroom has to be pink, and this one glows gently rather than shouting. One family of soft golds and warm creams, deepening to a quiet amber, like early light on a plaster wall. A soft, buttery gold on the walls, a pale cream ceiling, gentle or deeper woodwork, and a touch of warm amber and mustard for depth. No feature wall, the depth does the work. It is warm and enveloping, but easy to live with. Every colour is breathable, low odour Graphenstone Grafclean, and endorsed by English Heritage.
Five tones of one warm family, pale cream to a soft golden mustard. Screens vary, so treat these as a guide and try a swatch at home.

Naples Yellow on the walls
A soft, buttery gold that fills a bedroom with gentle warmth and a sunny lift, without ever feeling loud. Paler and calmer than a full ochre, it is easy to live with morning and night, and lovely by lamplight. One of our softest golds. In our low sheen Grafclean matt.

The soft cream above
Keep the ceiling soft and pale. Jasmine is a gentle, warm off-white that lets the golden walls breathe and keeps the room light overhead, a kinder cream than a stark brilliant white.

The gentle route
For a soft, seamless look, take the woodwork in Straw, a pale butter cream that sits just under the walls so skirting and doors stay quiet. In wipeable Grafclean Eggshell.
Shop StrawAmber
The moodier route
Prefer the trim to frame the room? Amber is a warm, apricot clay, a gentle step deeper than the walls, for a slightly richer, more enveloping feel. Also in wipeable Grafclean Eggshell.

Maple on the details
A soft, golden mustard for the back of a shelf, an alcove or a headboard wall, where the scheme gains a little richness. Used sparingly against the buttery walls, it deepens the golden glow without ever taking over. A natural partner to rattan, linen and aged brass.

Softer or bolder
- SofterTake the walls in the palest cream Jasmine and keep the golds to the woodwork and accents only, for the gentlest version.
- BolderWant it warmer and richer? Take Maple onto the walls, or bring a terracotta like Cornish Hearth onto a headboard wall.
Golden tones are at their best by warm light, so pair them with soft, warm-toned bulbs and let the colours deepen gently after dark.
