Reusable Biodegradable Paint Kettle - 2.5L Paint Kettle - Lick Pro

A reusable paint kettle made from biodegradable pulp. Much nicer than dragging a heavy tin around the room.

I used these many times over the years and always surprised how well they work!

This 2.5L paint kettle is handy for cutting in, touch-ups, woodwork, trim, and any job where you only need a sensible amount of paint at a time. Pour a bit of paint in, take it with you, and work from that instead of carrying the full tin up ladders, across floors, or around furniture.

And yes, you can use it again.

I know, because it is made from pulp, it looks like the sort of thing that should be used once and binned. It is not. The moulded pulp is tough enough for normal decorating work and is designed to be reused with different paints and colours.

Once you have finished, pour any leftover paint back into the tin. Wipe the kettle out, or rinse it before the paint dries, then leave it to dry properly before putting it away. Same idea as the biodegradable 9" or 4" paint trays. Do not leave it sitting full of paint or water for days and expect miracles.

It is a simple swap from the usual plastic paint kettle. Practical, lightweight, easy to carry, and made from biodegradable pulp instead of virgin plastic. Use it, clean it, dry it, and it will be ready for the next job.

Why us? We help people choose genuinely safer paints and finishes, without the greenwashing. We’re an independent shop, not a paint brand, and we only recommend products we truly believe in, or have tested and tried. For us, this is personal: better indoor air quality matters. Don't just take our word for it, read our Reviews. What is a natural paint?

You can reuse it with different paints and colours, but treat it like a decorating tool, not a magic trick. Empty out any leftover paint, wipe or rinse it while the paint is still wet, then let it dry properly before using it again.

The pulp may stain slightly, especially with strong colours, but staining is not the same as the colour bleeding into your next paint. Just make sure there is no wet paint or loose dried paint left inside before you swap colours.

Useful bits to go with this.

If you are painting walls or ceilings, it is worth having the right tray, roller frame, and sleeves together. The paint tray set is the easiest starting point if you want everything in one go.

For bigger areas, use the 9" mid pile roller sleeves. They are best for main walls, ceilings, and larger flat sections where you want to cover the surface quickly and evenly.

For smaller areas, awkward corners, furniture, panelling, and trim, the 4" mid pile roller sleeves are really handy. They give you a roller finish in places where a 9" roller feels too big.

The 2.5L paint kettle is also useful for cutting in, touching up, or moving around the room without carrying a full tin of paint. Pour a sensible amount in, use what you need, then put any leftover paint back in the tin.
