Anti mould paint & mould stains

If you have unsightly marks and stains caused by pre existing black mould spores on your interior walls, as often can be found in insufficient ventilated rooms, the only really solution is the following.

Can I paint over mould?

If you have existing mould on your walls, use the Auro 412 mould eliminator to clean it off, and then a spray of Auro 413 mould stop to prevent it in the future, then over paint with one of the anti mould wall paints such as the Auro 303. 

Mould is much easier to control on lime plasters rather than standard gypsum due to the PH.

How to prevent mould on your walls

The best long term solution to preventing mould in your home is to try and air your rooms more regularly, crack open the windows as often as possible especially after showing.

Fitting an upgraded ceiling extractor fan is a great idea for those winter months when your windows are not as open as they are in the summer.  

Mould on bedroom walls

In bedrooms and living spaces, try and leave air gaps between the walls and furniture, as the humidity from sleeping can cause mould build up in those badly ventilated parts of your living space.

How is anti mould paint any different to normal paint?

Anti mould paint naturally lends itself to have more of a lime bas rather than just a standard natural mineral or plant base.

The natural lime base has a slightly higher PH, which inhibits the growth of mould far more than a standard paint.

These paints can be used to cover mould (once the mould has been removed and treated), but usually there is an underlying cause that is causing the mould which needs to be addressed.
