Auro 117 - Special Primer

Primer for types of wood and wooden materials rich in active substances. Prevents drying delays caused by tanning substances in the wood, breakthrough of discolouring ingredients in white coatings and efflorescence on salt- and pressure-impregnated wood. Recommended for use on Oak, Red Oak, Ash, Cherry, Chestnut, Nut, Larch, Bamboo, Framiré, Red Cedar, Red Meranti, Almendrillo (Cumaru), Jatoba (Paquio), OSB, Cork and MDF.

Note: As this is made from citrus oils, it does have a lemony / orange smell for a while!

The Special primer is absolutely essential as primer for Auro's original Aqua (water-based) products on wood types rich in active substances.

AURO 117 Special Primer is recommended for use on woods rich in tannins, such as oak, chestnut and cherry. This product can also be used as a primer for Auro's original water based (Aqua) wood finishes. AURO 127 water based primer is not recommended for use on woods rich in tannins, such as oak, chestnut and cherry – as drying times will be extended. 117 Special Primer, which contains some natural solvent, is recommended in these circumstances.

Note: If you are using Auro's newer (Colours For Life) generation of water based wood paints (516 gloss, 517 satin), choose the Auro 510 paint primer, not the Auro 117.
